her face soft in bloom
stemmed from parasitic roots
destructive beauty

past without a trace
appearance proves worth within
rooted from above

bursts of gamma rays
convincing her reflection
to surrender light

muted, dormant feet
treading a motionless path
heave inaction’s gut

horns sound siren songs,
footprints flow in rhythm to
urban melodies

our future is doomed!
echoes a soothsaying proof-
